Another book, another string of drama in the Sookie Stackhouse series. It’s been three months since the events of book 10, and Sookie seems to be doing fine. But like with the previous 10 books, that doesn’t last long. It begins with a firebombing of Merlotte’s and concludes with a plot to kill Victor the regent of Louisiana while the King of Nevada is away on business. I’ll tell you now, the firebombing and Victor are not related despite some red herrings. The firebombing of Merlotte’s is connected to Sandra Pelt, Denise’s sister, who is out of jail and gunning for Sookie’s life. And Victor…well, I won’t even get into him.

What I found interesting about this book was how devious Sookie’s cousins – Claude and Dermot – are for why they wanted to stay with her. There’s another plot there, but I’m still not one hundred percent sure what it is. Especially what’s going on with the demon lawyer? Hm… as for Eric/Sookie/Bill/Sam/Alicide, I just can’t even with that girl. The whole Eric relationship has finally lost it’s appeal to me. Although there was a cute moment when Sookie figured out a way to break the blood bond and realized that it wasn’t the bond that made her love the Viking vampire. But other than that, I’m kind of glad things might be coming to an end with them. I’ve been rooting for Sam for a good while now.

Final Rating: 4 out of 5 stars. Harris is good by leaving little plot lines that I’m really curious to see tied up. What is going on with Sookie and her cousins? Will Eric go through with his marriage to the Queen of Oklahoma? What about Bill? Or Sam and his girlfriend? And what the hell is the demon lawyer running from? Guess I’d better get going on the next one.
