Mia thought finding out she was a princess was going to be the biggest revelation of her life, but she was wrong. When she realized she was in love with her best friend’s older brother she thought for sure her life was over. But it turned out okay, because he loves her too. Or so he told her on her last night in town before she took off for three weeks to Genovia. Now, that she’s away and overthinking pretty much everything, she’s not sure if Michael really means it. The only way to find out is to go back to New York and actually go on a first date with the guy. But even that has its problems when Grandmére demands that Mia go to a ball the same night. What’s a girl to do?

As usual, the latest installment of the Princess Diaries was quick and fun to read. But honestly, Mia makes trouble out of nothing. Of course, Michael loves you, you big dork, and of course, he’s not going to break up with you just because you had to cancel your first date due to a princess thing. Get a grip, princess! I think the funniest thing in this book was when Grandmére gave Mia a copy of Jane Eyre to read, and Mia, Tina, and Lilly decided to do as Jane Eyre did. I’m sorry, but Jane Eyre is not the best fictional reference when it comes to dating, and I can’t believe at fourteen they were able to read it so quickly. I had trouble with it at eighteen.

Final Rating: 4 out of 5 stars. Michael is the perfect catch and the way that he acts around Mia now that they’re dating is seriously awesome. Another fictional character that I wish actually existed.

Bookshelf worthy? I re-purchased so that way all my PD books had the same cover (except for Royal Wedding) and I have yet to regret the decision…
